Where is Real Love?

God offers real love
But  I turn my back on His love
And run after cheap imitations.
God loves me unconditionally
But I keep trying
To earn love from humans.
God is 100% available with a pure love,
Yet I settle for half love, some love,
And even no love with just a whole lot of lust.
If only I could truly grasp what REAL love is,
The kind that’s wrapped in God,
Maybe I would be able to
Recognize it in man, and let it in.
Truth be told,
Love scares me.
It seems so illusive, so impossible.
I want it, but I don’t know
If I can really trust it or handle it.
So I run and hide from it.
Lord, help me decipher the real from the fake.
April baby that I am, I am a diamond girl.
I want diamond love, not the cubic zirconium kind.

Where is real love in human form?
Get thee behind me
You emotionally, physically, and legally unavailable.
You look good, smell good,
And sure feel a whole lotta good.
But you ain’t good enough for me.
I want more. I want all.
I’m tired of settling.
Nothing but the best will do.
I deserve it. I want it. I’m gonna get it.
Real love, wherever thou art, I am here.
I’m waiting for you. Come hither, find me,
Pursue me, walk this road with me.
WAIT! Let me say this final piece.
If you ain’t willing to strive to love me like Jesus does,
I’m pretty sure you ain’t the one for me.
So keep stepping and leave me be.

Sometimes

Sometimes everything seems wrong in the world
You don’t look right, don’t feel right,
Your hair is a mess and your clothes are too tight.

Sometimes you long for a do-over
A chance to crawl back into bed
To start the day again, but this time without that awful dread.

Sometimes you wonder what is going on.
Why does life seem so limited?
Why don’t you have the things you always wanted?

Sometimes it gets a little weary
Your steps get a little slower
And you wish the next life was a bit closer.

Sometimes you cry out in the darkness
And hope that someone will hear.
Just one someone to hear and to care.

Sometimes you need to melt into the darkness.
You have to feel the pain and its immeasurable weight
Before you can fully embrace God’s pure light.

Sometimes you just want to give up
There are times when all you can do is fall on your face,
But know that God is waiting and is offering you His Grace.

Sometimes it is in your weakness
That you realize your own strength
And find the courage to go the full length.

Sometimes when everything is amiss
That is the time that you need to find your own song
The song that lets the world know you’re still here and you’re strong.

Sometimes in the midst of your drought
You may forget what this life is all about
But know that your Father has already prepared the way out.

Sometimes you have to close your eyes
Take a DEEP breath, in and out,
Lift your hands to God and just SHOUT!

The Cat

There is a cat that lives in my mother’s yard
He roams around from end to end
Despite Mother’s promise
That to a far away land she will send.

Day after day we shoo her away
And day after day she lets us know she intends to stay.
I wonder why the cat doesn’t get the hint
I guess we should accept this will be no short stint.

Maybe in Kitty’s presence there a lesson.
Can we relate this to our Father who sent us His Son?
We try to ignore Him despite His acts of care
Keeping Him at bay, possibly out of fear.

We sometimes wish the Master would let us be
So we can live the life we consider to be free.
But He knows better than we do
That without His constant presence we will not have true freedom.

So He persists and He pursues
Always near when danger ensues.
We can depend on Him to help us
Because to love, for Him, is a must.

Kitty also teaches us that from the Master’s Hand
We receive sustenance to stand.
Kitty comes to the door and meows when she is hungry
For she knows where to go when she is needy.

Kitty knows a truth that we sometimes forget
We have to come with expectancy in order to get.
If we know who we are and whose we are
We will know not to run or go very far.

It may seem like God has forsaken us
But we should ask, “Unlike man, has He from His presence ever thrust?”
Sometimes it is our actions that make Him feel far away
But always remember, in His presence, we are never a stray.

I Want More

There are rivers that run through me
And upon these rivers
Flow the desires of my heart.
Who will hear my desires and care?
Who will answer the yearning of my heart?
My heart beats
The river ripples.
I sleep and hear the sound of water
Flowing all around.
It is soothing
It is luring
It calls my name
It invites me to go deeper.
There are winds of change
Beckoning to me
Urging me to fly higher
Take the limits off
And soar like the eagles.
There is a fire in my belly
That burns with the passion
Of a thousand dreams.

Who will answer the yearning of my heart?
It is I who must answer it.
I have been given the key
That fits the lock
And when I turn that key
I unleash the gifts
Deposited in my treasure box.
I must free the gifts and free myself
For these gifts will bring to pass
The yearnings of my heart
And allow the fullness of all I can be
To flow into the universe and set others free.

Friends

My friends are the people who cheer me on when I do well
and allow me to cry on their shoulder when things are not so well.
They love me in the languages of my heart
– quality time and physical touch –
and allow me to freely be me.
My friends give me courage when I am afraid
Because they believe in me even when I can’t.
We get to choose our friends
And I’m so very glad my friends chose me.

NEW Day

The sun is shining
A slight breeze is blowing.
There are dark clouds looming
But it is not raining.

My heart is a-glow
With the light of the Lord
His light shines in me and I know
That my God reigns!

He reigns over the just and unjust
He reigns over the black and white
He reigns over the rich and poor
He reigns over you and He reigns over me.

I'm so happy for this new day
And for the ability to pray.
There seems to be so much to say
So I talk to God all through the day.

There is none like Him
To get me through the valleys
Or pull me out of the pit.
So today and every day, I will praise Him.

It's a NEW day
So praise Him today!

God is GOOD!

God is so GOOD!

He is
Glorious
Omnipotent
Omniscient and
Divine.

There is none like Him.
He knows me by name.
He knows me intimately
And He holds me in the palm of His hands.

God is
Glorious
Omnipotent
Omniscient and
Divine.

I love the Lord because He first loved me.
Sometimes my love falls short.
Sometimes I don't do as I ought.
But His love is always the same.

Big Daddy is
Glorious
Omnipotent
Omniscient and
Divine.

Can I ever thank Him enough?
Praise Him enough?
Is anything too much to offer?
All I am I give to Him in worship.

My Lord is
Glorious
Omnipotent
Omniscient and
Divine.

No matter what life throws my way,
My goal is to stand firm
On the Word of my God.
His promises are everlasting.

The triune God is
Glorious
Omnipotent
Omniscient and
Divine.

I will praise Him all my days!
